Most people know that they need a home, food and other basics. Throughout life we come across problems, situations, challenges and more. Human beings are the same in the sense that they become happier and more likely to reciprocate help when their needs are met. Some people wonder if they will ever leave a mark on the world or change it for the better, the only way to accomplish it is through thoughtful action.
- Find what you love...
By finding what you love you can never wake up in the morning and say that you are not looking forward to all that you really want to do. Discover what you love by volunteering, asking those around you how you can help, and seeing what skills you can develop just by participation. Make a list and see what you can do to be the best at what you love.
- Fulfill a need...
Do you ever have a conversation where you describe; how there should be something for ______ ,or it would be better if ________, or it would really help out to __________? By taking those ideas and creating plans ( answering in detail the who, what, where, why and how, in addition to overcoming obstacles such as time, tools, budget costs, or other roadblocks) then presenting to those people who can authorize the changes. Surround yourselves with people who can help you be stronger where you are weak. Soon you will be getting better with practice and you will be everyone's go to person for something.
- Remember others...
Say you get to have a great opportunity or someone has finally given you a chance remember others. Show gratitude and continue to use your manners it makes a huge difference in someone life to hear, read or see something saying they have made a difference and you'll reap more rewards down the road for it as well. Nobody appreciates someone who says that "I'm all that." Every great Oscar acceptance speech they tell someone thank you and acknowledge them, so be a star at what you love.
- Know your values...
Eventually when you make choices never forget your values. Does your offered dream job keep you from spending time with your family and friends? Does ambition have a line for you or does it really mean do whatever it takes? Evaluate yourself often decide if you are living with good values or just talking about them and what it will take to make them better.
I called these the safety net of life. I pursue what I love through education and experience and impart what I can to others. I fulfill needs on a daily basis, but mark out plans on how they add up to something better. This keeps me employed; as well as admired as a friend. I realize more and more everyday that survived because of those who have loved me and were incredible patience with my weaknesses. I know that you can make that difference in those around you as well. My values help keep me in check as I strive to be a better person, and be one that others can count on, and if I can accomplish this you can too.
May your road maps through life be successful and that your safety nets catch you when things don't go perfect. And in the words of the British Government - "Keep Calm and Carry On."
